RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro will wear an electronic ankle monitor on orders from the Supreme Court, where he is on trial for allegedly masterminding a coup plot to remain in office despite his defeat in the 2022 election.

Donald Trump has vowed to impose tariffs on Brazil and sanction the judge trying former president Jair Bolsonaro over an alleged coup attempt. The US President has vowed to slap the South American nation with 50 per cent tariffs from Friday unless they call off what he called the "witch hunt" of Bolsonaro.

US President Donald Trump also signed an executive order that effectively implements the 50% tariff announced earlier this month, which he had explicitly linked to Bolsonaro's case. View on euronews
