Gleyber Torres homered twice and Riley Greene drove in four runs to help the Detroit Tigers beat the Cincinnati Reds 11-5 on a rainy Friday night.

Cincinnati Reds ace Hunter Greene was still in Los Angeles Friday night, pending one more meeting with specialists before returning to Cincinnati.

Riley Greene homered and drove in four runs, Gleyber Torres blasted a pair of solo homers and the host Detroit Tigers rolled past the Cincinnati Reds, 11-5, on Friday.

CINCINNATI -- For the second straight game, Reds pitching allowed 11 runs. Friday night, those 11 runs came from the Detroit Tigers, who beat the Reds 11-5 in the first of a three-game series. It was a close game through 5 1/2 innings, but the Tigers scored eight runs in their final three innings at the plate to break the game open.

The Savannah Bananas pulled out all the surprises during their Cincinnati debut at Great American Ball Park on Friday night.

Now, the Tigers are back in the Motor City, where they have been exceptional. Heading into the weekend, the Bengals are 23-9 at Comerica Park, good for the second-best home record in the major leagues. The Tigers are still atop the AL Central, eight games up on the Minnesota Twins.

The Savannah Bananas are playing at Great American Ball Park on Friday night. Fav-favorite Sean Casey got an at-bat and drew a walk in only a way he could. The ball went to the backstop and Casey rounded first pretending he was going to try for second before retreating back to first.
