Elkhart County Prosecutor reveals details of deadly Martin’s Supermarket shooting
Investigators shared new details on the motive noting 54-year-old Juan Sanchez's interest in young females during his 20 minutes in the store. The prosecutor says investigators believe he was looking for a victim.

The shootings occurred barely 11 years after a Jan. 15, 2014, shooting in which a 20-year-old gunman killed an employee and a shopper at the Martin's on East Bristol Street. The gunman in that case had forced a store manager to his knees and may have been about to kill him when Elkhart police arrived and killed the gunman.

Jackson Boulevard in Elkhart Monday night is not the first time a Martin’s in Elkhart has experienced this type of tragedy. In January of 2014, the Martin’s Super Market on Bristol Street also experienced a deadly shooting.
