Much of Southern California is under a flood advisory as rain makes travel dangerous, while a snowstorm heads for the Northeastern U.S.
More than 41 million Americans across California, southern Nevada and northwest Arizona are under flood watches on Wednesday amid a rare, high risk for excessive rainfall and flooding. This includes major metros like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, California, San Diego and Las Vegas.
The California Highway Patrol reported a seemingly weather-related crash south of Sacramento in which a Sacramento sheriff’s deputy died. James Caravallo, who was with the agency for 19 years, was apparently traveling at an unsafe speed, lost control on a wet road and crashed into a power pole, CHP Officer Michael Harper said via email.
On Wednesday at 2:54 p.m. the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA released an updated flash flood warning in effect until 6 p.m. The warning is for Los Angeles as well as Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.
