The contentious case of President Donald Trump's deployment of National Guard soldiers in California has reached a new stage as a federal judge ruled California Gov. Gavin Newsom may be granted limited discovery — and the case will remain in its current jurisdiction.

Eight of CalGuard's 14 firefighting crews — known as Task Force Rattlesnake — have been deployed to Los Angeles as part of Trump's federalization of the Guard, according to Gov. Gavin Newsom.
