For the second day, agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) waited outside a Sacramento immigration courtroom in order to take a person into custody.
Two men were detained by ICE officers after attending required hearings at Sacramento's immigration court, marking the latest in a series of arrests.
ICE agents have detained five people in Sacramento federal courtrooms after the Trump administration rescinded guidance to avoid making arrests at places of worship and at immigration appointments.
At least two more men who were attending hearings at Sacramento Immigration Court were handcuffed and detained Wednesday morning. The detentions occurred while more than eight men in plainclothes, who appeared to be federal authorities,
"We've been sounding this alarm for a long time, right? But folks are using this moment to gain more followers and clicks," said Giselle Garcia.
Two demonstrations in support of immigrants’ rights converged in Sacramento on Monday.
At least one person attending immigration court on Capitol Mall was detained by suspected ICE agents Thursday. Protesters gathered outside the locked building, decrying the Trump administration's recent enforcement tactics.
