'It's not your country': Lebanese President Aoun criticizes Hezbollah, Iran in CNN interview
During his interview with Christiane Amanpour, Aoun asked Israelis if they truly want to live in "perpetual war." He then said that negotiations are a "huge opportunity" for both countries.
Israel’s air force struck different parts of southern Lebanon on Friday as the military issued evacuation warnings for nine villages, including one that has been spared much of the destruction and was sheltering thousands of people displaced by the three-month war.
The US and Iran have been engaged in largely indirect negotiations to secure an interim deal to halt the three-month-old war that would leave issues including Iran's nuclear programme to further negotiations.
BEIRUT, June 5 (Reuters) - Lebanese President Joseph Aoun accused Iran of using Lebanon ‌as a bargaining chip in its negotiations with the United States on Friday, ‌in some of his toughest criticism yet of Tehran and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah as it wages war with ​Israel.
There was no sign of progress in ceasefire talks between the US and Iran after the worst burst of violence in weeks and as the Tehran-backed Hezbollah militia on Thursday rejected a US-brokered truce in Lebanon.
