Kidd was unaware that Harrison was shopping Doncic. Harrison reportedly had nearly a month of dialogue with Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka about the move. Not once did he tell the coach he thinks he’s aligned with about what was in the works behind the scenes.

In the wake of the mind-boggling Luka Doncic trade, Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison and head coach Jason Kidd addressed the media, presumably hoping to cool things down a bit.

In exchange for Doncic, who is being joined in Los Angeles by Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris, the Mavericks received Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick. Shortly after the trade was announced, Harrison revealed his motivation for unloading Doncic from seemingly out of nowhere.
