Alabama football had a stronger chance than ever to make it to the College Football Playoff in 2024 with the new 12-team Playoff format. The Crimson Tide got snubbed out of CFP following their three regular season losses.

Jason Jones is now on staff for the Tide, helping coach defensive backs alongside Maurice Linguist, who largely focused on UA’s cornerbacks last season. He’s one of two additions to the staff, along with Chuck Morrell, who got a promotion to inside linebackers coach.

Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer led the program to a 9-4 overall record in his first season with the program.

Former Washington defensive back, Dom Hampton feels Alabama football players have not bought all the way into Kalen DeBoer in Tuscaloosa. Hampton played under DeBoer at Washington in 2022 and 2023. He was a starter for the Huskies when Washington made it to the National Championship game under the now Alabama head coach.

Ryan Grubb has nearly been Alabama football’s offensive coordinator multiple times. He interviewed with Nick Saban, and had accepted the job under Kalen DeBoer last season before defecting to the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.

DeBoer took Washington to the championship game in his second season as head coach. Is it realistic to expect the same thing at Alabama?
