Slamming Trump and Texas Governor Greg Abbott for trying to “rig the election” by shifting district lines in ways that would target Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives, Newsom said he will counter by a new congressional map for California, which has more congressional seats than other states.

Gov. Gavin Newsom said the process would include making new maps available to voters and asking them to approve the redistricting plan during a special election held on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The governor plans to go through the Legislature to usher in a map with more Democratic seats if Texas tilts its map to the right, according to a person with knowledge of Newsom’s thinking.
