Pakistan ended their campaign in the home Champions Trophy without a win after rain washed out their dead rubber against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Pakistan’s Champions Trophy campaign exposed the same recurring problems that have plagued the team for years-lack of strategic planning, ineffective middle-order batting, and inconsistent bowling. Despite having the advantage of home conditions, Pakistan appeared outplayed, outclassed, and outmaneuvered.

As per the PCB’s ticket refund policy, ticket holders are eligible for a full refund if the match was abandoned before the toss. The board confirmed that all enclosure ticket holders will receive refunds, while hospitality ticket holders (boxes and PCB gallery) will not be eligible for reimbursement.

New Zealand, which beat Pakistan by 60 runs in the opening match, sealed its playoff spot with a five-wicket win over Bangladesh last Monday at Rawalpindi, which was awarded three Champions Trophy matches. India beat Bangladesh and Pakistan in Dubai to qualify for the semifinal.

Pakistan are hosting an ICC event for the first time in almost three decades. The Champions Trophy provides a stage for an imperfect team to perform.
