Two people died early Monday morning on Florida’s Turnpike in Pompano Beach when a driver traveling in the wrong direction hit another car head on, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 12:50 a.m. about a half mile south of Atlantic Boulevard, FHP Trooper Raeford Griffin said.

Ted Scouten reports the Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of an Acura TL sedan was heading south in the northbound lanes when he slammed head-on into a Mercedes-Benz A220.
