South Africa were beaten in the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy by New Zealand in Lahore on Wednesday. They have now lost five Champions Trophy semi-finals -- 2000, 2002, 2006, 2013 and 2025. The Proteas also lost in the semi-finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup and in the final at last year's Twenty20 World Cup.

David Miller, who was the lone warrior for South Africa in their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final loss to New Zealand, has stated that the outcome was not what they had thought. The Proteas suffered yet another defeat in an ICC event knockout game as the Kiwis defeated them by 60 runs.
