Officials provided an update on the investigation into a shooting in Washington, D.C., where two National Guard members were allegedly targeted by 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal. The suspect faces several charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

After the alleged shooter was identified as Rahmanullah Lakanwal — a 29-year-old Afghan national — Trump said he would permanently shut down immigration from impoverished countries.

Trump also paused migration from “all Third World Countries” after the shooting of National Guard members in DC.
