Mississippi has executed the longest-serving man on its death row nearly 50 years after he was convicted of murder.

Richard Gerald Jordan apologized to his victim's family and pleaded for forgiveness in his final statement before being executed in Mississippi on Wednesday. Jordan, 79, had kidnapped and killed a bank loan officer's wife in a violent ransom scheme,
