Shane Lowry, amidst another brutal day at the 2025 U.S. Open, had a laugh about his blunder on the 14th green.

Shane Lowry was penalized a stroke Friday at the U.S. Open after he accidentally picked up his ball on the 14th green without marking it. If nothing else, it gave Lowry something to laugh about during an otherwise miserable round.

The U.S. Open at Oakmont can do many things to a player’s mind, and apparently it did them all to Shane Lowry on Friday, when the burly Irishman forgot to mark his ball before picking it up on the 14th green.

The Open champion produced a light moment of relief at the par 4 14th, where Lowry picked up his golf ball on the green without marking it

Shane Lowry has had better days on the golf course than Thursday's first round at the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club. Lowry was at three-over through his first seven holes when he reached the drivable par-4 17th hole.
