Tesla investors seem willing to trade a delay in the company’s robotaxi pilot program for the hope that Elon Musk is working his way back into the Trump administration’s good graces.

Tesla faces an existential test this month as it aims to launch self-driving “robotaxis” in its home base of Austin, Texas, where public-safety officials are increasingly concerned about the state’s anti-regulation stance toward autonomous vehicles.

Tesla is "tentatively" aiming to begin its robotaxi service in Austin on June 22. But leading up to the launch, residents in Southeast Austin are noticing some strange activity from the vehicles.
