The Boston Bruins are set to host the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night at TD Garden. The matchup represents the first time that the Bruins’ 2016 first-round draft pick, Trent Frederic, will play in Boston as a visitor.

Trent Frederic didn’t play in Sunday’s game versus the Vegas Golden Knights, and it’s unlikely he sees action for the Edmonton Oilers until the holidays are over.

Trading Frederic to the Oilers was the right move, and a series of other right moves have followed for Boston.

After spending parts of seven season with the Bruins, the burly forward was dealt at last season's trade deadline to the two-time defending Western Conference champions.

In light of that three-team Boston-New Jersey-Edmonton trade last March, the offensively challenged ex-Bruins’ winger Trent Frederic was still on the Oilers lineup card in his return to Beantown Thursday.

With the Edmonton Oilers getting back to town from Minnesota late Saturday night, the team held an optional morning skate on Sunday ahead of their game against the Vegas Golden Knights.
