President Donald Trump says a deal to end the war between Russia and Ukraine is “getting a lot closer” after his meeting at Mar-a-Lago with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and phone call with Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

Trump had what he described as an “excellent,” two-and-a-half-hour phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin prior to the meeting with the Ukraine leader.

Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone shortly before the meeting. Trump described it as a “good and very productive telephone call.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was scheduled to arrive at Mar-a-Lago in President Donald Trump's latest attempt to end the war with Russia.
