Braden Smith of Purdue is the Associated Press Big Ten player of year, Michigan State’s Tom Izzo is coach of the year and Wisconsin’s John Tonje the newcomer of the year.

Purdue junior guard Braden Smith was named the 2025 Big Ten Player of the Year after averaging 16.3 points, 8.8 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game.

Purdue’s Braden Smith was named the Big Ten player of the year and Michigan State’s Tom Izzo coach of the year by coaches and the media in voting coordinated by the conference. Smith and Izzo won the same honors from The Associated Press on Tuesday.

Michigan State’s Tom Izzo was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for the fourth time, among the other conference awards announced Tuesday.
