A major trade between the Maple Leafs and Canadiens fell through, and now the embarrassing reason why has been leaked.

Joe Pavelski could have a future as an NHL coach, but throwing him into the Maple Leafs now seems like a mistake waiting to happen.

Friedman compares a potential Pavelski hire to when the Montreal Canadiens hired Martin St. Louis. Pavelski has coached his son Nate "at the youth level" in Madison, Wisconsin, according to Friedman.
