The Met Office has warned that snow could fall in parts of the UK next week as an Arctic blast sweeps the country - and our interactive map shows the areas at risk
There will be a cold and frosty start on Monday (November 17) with plenty of sunshine and the odd shower. There’s the risk of some rain, sleet and hill snow on Tuesday and into Wednesday (November 18 and 19), with overnight frosts.
BBC doesn’t mention snowfall in its UK forecast for Sunday to Tuesday. It said: ‘Monday will see bright and sunny conditions for much of the UK, with just a few showers in the north. Cloudier and wet in Northern Ireland. Tuesday will see scattered showers, wintry for many in the north.’
Snow looks to be heading to the UK next week, with the Met Office warning of 'wintry hazards' and cold conditions following the devastation caused by Storm Claudia
The first snows of the winter are forecast to fall in more than 20 areas next week as a blast of arctic weather hits Britain. You can see the days when snow is predicted in your area with our interactive map.
An amber weather warning has been issued as Storm Claudia looks set to batter parts of the UK on Friday. Flooding is likely, with some areas facing up to 150mm (6in) of rain. The warning is in place from noon until the end of the day, and covers parts of Wales, the Midlands, the South West, South East and East of England.
The Met Office forecast reads: "Temperatures across the UK will peak in the mid-teens Celsius, which is above average for the time of year but not as mild as the last few days. Expect values to be a couple of degrees cooler, reflecting the change in wind direction and the passage of weather fronts."
Weather maps predict the first snow to fall around 6pm on Friday, November 14. Just a few centimetres are forecasted in northern Scotland, particularly around Inverness. However, the snow could ultimately reach as far south as northern England, according to British Weather Services' senior meteorologist, Jim Dale, reports the Mirror.
After a warm start to November, there is a chance that people in Norfolk could see some snowfall next week. The Met Office has said temperatures are expected to drop considerably and this could bring some wintry showers.
