The San Francisco 49ers began their search for a new defensive coordinator Thursday by interviewing Robert Saleh for a second stint at the job and Detroit Lions assistant Deshea Townsend. Saleh is a 2001 graduate of Northern Michigan University who played football for four years for the Wildcats.

Former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh has completed an interview for the San Francisco 49er's vacant defensive coordinator position, the team announced Thursday. The front office also met with Detroit Lions defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator Deshea Townsend.

According to Josina Anderson, Robert Saleh will be interviewing for the opening next Tuesday, while Albert Breer reported that Detroit defensive coordinator ... Glenn, meanwhile, has been the Lions’ defensive coordinator since the 2021 season.
