Two-time Oscar winner Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 64, were found dead in their New Mexico home Wednesday, authorities said.

The two-time Oscar winner stared in voluminous films throughout his career including "Superman" and "Superman II" in which he portrayed the character Lex Luthor and starred opposite Christopher Reeve's Superman; and "Unforgiven" in which he played the character sheriff Little Bill Daggett.

To the rest of the world, Gene Hackman may be remembered as Lex Luthor or Royal Tenenbaum or Detective Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle. But in the City Different, many will remember the decadeslong Santa Fe resident in a much more personal way.
