Early voting in Harris County begins Monday, Oct. 20, and runs through Friday, Oct. 31, giving residents nearly two weeks to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day on Nov. 4.
Democrats have a chance at overperforming in the Tennessee special election after Harris attended a canvassing event last month.
State Sen. Paul Bettencourt (R-Houston) took to X earlier this week, blasting Harris County for "STILL allowing many citizens to register to vote using private P.O. boxes." Bettencourt argued such registrations are in direct violation of the law he authored-Senate Bill 1111-which made such action illegal, barring certain qualifications.
In a statement to Houston Public Media on Tuesday, Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Annette Ramirez said the office is reviewing the records associated with the two addresses at the center of the complaint and will promptly take any necessary action.
Tennessee’s Seventh District was created to be safely Republican, but in recent special elections across the country Democrats have done significantly better than they did in 2024.
