The bus driving IU Indy men's basketball players and its staff back to Indianapolis on Sunday caught fire and burned down on the side of the interstate in Kent, Indiana, the school said Sunday evening.

Indiana baseball’s junior outfielder was nearly motionless, his back turned to the three players gleefully rounding the bases at Bart Kaufman Field on Wednesday afternoon. Northern Kentucky University redshirt junior outfielder Josh Williams had just belted an opposite field home run in the fourth inning.

“On the return drive from today’s game against Northern Kentucky, the bus carrying the IU Indianapolis men’s basketball team experienced a mechanical issue, that caused a fire around Kent, Indiana,” the team’s athletic department tweeted at 6:22 p.m. ET on Sunday night.

The bus carrying the Indiana University Indianapolis men's basketball team burst into flames on the highway as it returned from a game in northern Kentucky. No one was injured.

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. — It was not the ideal Sunday for the IU Indianapolis men's basketball team. According to a release from IU Indy's athletic department, as the team was traveling back to Indianapolis following their 71-67 loss to Northern Kentucky, the team's bus caught fire.
