Construction of t he Grand Coulee Dam broke ground in 1933 and was completed in 1942. L ocated west of Spokane, Wash., on the Columbia River is the largest concrete structure in the country.

The dam will raise the waters of the Columbia so that they can be pumped into the reservoir of the Grand Coulee and will then flow over the parcned acres of the Columbia Basin.

The Grand Coulee Dam and surrounding lakes are ideal for boating, fishing, swimming, and kayaking. For a unique overnight getaway, house boating is offered on Lake Roosevelt.
