The two candidates for Real Madrid's club elections are making pledges to make big signings before the club members vote on Sunday.

Real Madrid are set to target Arsenal and Manchester City stars this summer, as they hope to return to the top. The Spanish giants have failed to win a trophy in each of the last two seasons – a period of relative turmoil at the club.

The presidential candidate said his prospective sporting director would ask the German to "lead, from the bench, a new era" on Monday.

Real Madrid on Thursday said Jose Mourinho would return to coach the club should its longtime President Florentino Perez win reelection.
