Florida baseball lost for the first time in the 2025 campaign, coming at home on Sunday against the visiting Miami Hurricanes, 13-7.

The Miami Hurricanes baseball team railed in the fifth inning to defeat the No. 8 Florida Gators 13-6 after dropping the first two games of the series. It was a great showing for the Canes who needed a sign of growth from last season to this one.

In the top of the sixth inning, Peterson fired off his seventh and final strikeout. After Shelton caught a pop fly. Peterson launched into a celebratory tirade where he ended it by spiking his baseball glove into the wooden bench in the Gator dugout.

Luke Heyman smashed two homers and the Florida bullpen navigated an early exit from starter Pierce Coppola to claim the weekend series against Miami.

The Florida Gators allowed nine runs over the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, blowing a 4-0 lead and losing its first game of the season.
