Kia EV9 owners can soon take advantage of the SUV’s Vehicle-to-Home power backup capabilities with the availability of a bi-directional charger coming in June. The new Wallbox Quasar 2 electric vehicle charger is the first home EV power connector in the US that works with the EV9 and is now up for preorder for owners and lessees of the vehicle.

Owners may encounter driveline noise and a warning message for an issue in some of the initial EV9 EVs made at Kia's Georgia plant.

Kia is recalling 137,256 Seltos and Soul vehicles because of an issue with the piston oil rings. Documents posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration say the problem can cause a loss of motive power or in rare cases, a fire.

The damage can make the engine stall or catch fire. The recall covers some 2021 to 2023 Seltos and Soul vehicles. Dealers will inspect the engine and if necessary, replace it. They will also install a piston-ring noise-sensing system.
