When it come to finding a new general manager to work alongside, it is clear Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen was looking for some specific qualities. Chief among those qualities? The ability to communicate and spread a clear version of the vision the Jaguars want to come to life.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had their fair share of free agents come and go during the Jason Licht era. He is one of the busier general managers in the entire NFL. When he moves on from a player though, he tends to time that well with getting the most out of them before someone else can in most cases.

“He’s our guy,” Coen, the new Jacksonville coach, told reporters Tuesday at the scouting combine in Indianapolis, as reported by NFL Network. “He’s the franchise.” Lawrence’s standing in Jacksonville became a topic after the team fizzled out in 2024, leading to former Super Bowl-winning coach Doug Pederson getting the boot.

The Buccaneers reportedly were "hot and bothered" and "irate" over the fact that they felt Coen committed his short-term future to them but then quickly finalized an agreement with the Jaguars.
