The No. 1 question facing Michigan this week: Will Jordan Marshall suit up and play against Maryland? The redshirt freshman suffered a shoulder injury in last week’s win over Northwestern, but the Wolverines left Wrigley Field feeling optimistic about Marshall’s status moving forward.

Michigan has been on the periphery of CFP talk all year. That would change with a win at Maryland and another upset of Ohio State.

Malik Washington and Maryland host Bryce Underwood and No. 18 Michigan on Saturday in a matchup between two freshman quarterbacks who were asked to take over starting jobs from the very first game.

ANN ARBOR — The last time Michigan played Maryland, Michigan starting edge Jaishawn Barham was playing for the Terrapins. As a sophomore in 2023, he intercepted a J.J. McCarthy pass at the goal line late in the second half and made seven tackles. The year before, he had eight tackles. Michigan won both games by seven.

No. 18 Michigan does not expect injured running back Justice Haynes to play at Maryland or against top-ranked Ohio State. Wolverines coach Sherrone Moore said Haynes probably is out for the regular season.
