The suspect in a fatal shooting inside a restaurant in North Carolina’s capital city has died. Raleigh police said Sunday that 34-year-old George Colom Jr. died.

A man walked into a North Hills restaurant and fatally shot a coworker Friday before turning the gun on himself, police said. The shooting at Coquette Brasserie happened at 10:57 a.m., minutes before the French restaurant would normally have opened for lunch.

The incident took place at Coquette, a French restaurant in a North Hills mall, located in an affluent area of Raleigh on Friday. While the call was initially for an ‘active shooter,’ police later confirmed it was not a traditional ‘active shooter’ situation.
