Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday emphasised the need for year-round tourism in Uttarakhand to strengthen the state's economy, asserting that "no season should be off-season" for the region.

Of the 11 madrasas closed recently, nine are in Vikasnagar tehsil, while two are in Doiwala and Sadar. This comes after Vikasnagar Sub-District Magistrate (SDM) Vinod Kumar's report submitted in November last year listed madrasas were running without registering.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized the need to make Uttarakhand a Barahmasi (year-round) tourism destination, ensuring that there is no off-season in the state. Addressing the importance of diversification in the tourism sector,

“There should be no off-season in Uttarakhand. Winter tourism will strengthen the state's economy,” Modi said while addressing a public gathering. He also praised the Uttarakhand government's vision of promoting tourism throughout the year, adding, “Government’s vision of round-the-year tourism will strengthen economy, and create jobs for youth.”
