While the three-year extension for Affordable Care Act subsidies is expected to pass the House, it may not go far in the Senate. But a bipartisan group of senators say they are close on a compromise.
Republicans on Capitol Hill moved quickly to defend a federal ICE agent involved in a fatal shooting in Minnesota, saying the officer acted within his bounds after facing what authorities described as an immediate threat. "They were within their right to defend themselves. He was defending himself," Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., said.
The bills weren't seen as controversial and passed the House and the Senate unanimously. But President Donald Trump's vetoes carried signs of political disagreement.
