The New York Yankees are shaking things up for their second game this series against the Los Angeles Angels. With Giancarlo Stanton back from injury for only his second game this season, the Pinstripes have benched infielder and designated hitter Ben Rice.

Giancarlo Stanton got two hits in his season debut for the Yankees against the Los Angeles Angels after missing New York’s first 70 games because of inflammation in the tendons of both elbows.

That’s means the Yankees will be dealing with a Catch-22. The more Stanton plays, the greater the likelihood one or both of his elbows will bother him again. The pain is no joke, either: an elbow with tendinitis feels like a match has been taken to it. Shaking hands is torture, so you can imagine what gripping a bat is like.
