The 'No Kings' protest drew thousands of people to the state Capitol in Hartford to demonstrate against President Trump's policies.

Stan Nishimura took a taxi to get his brand new walker. It’s cherry red, the kind with a seat installed that lets him have a rest if he gets winded. The walker will give him some more mobility, allowing him to walk the grounds of his retirement community, but that’s not the sole reason he made the trek.

The Hartford event is anticipating as many as 5,000 participants as individuals around the state plan to rally to defend democracy.

The "No Kings" protests were scheduled in Connecticut as early as 9:30 a.m. in Canton and Glastonbury and could last elsewhere until 6 p.m.

Connecticut’s rally was one of more than 2,000 demonstrations held across all 50 states and 17 countries organized in part by the 50501 Movement and the organization Indivisible.
