Newly elected Pope Leo XIV grew up as a White Sox fan in Dolton, Ill., and he gave a message on the video board Saturday at Rate Field.

The event, set in Leo's hometown, was organized by the Archdiocese of Chicago in honor of his recent election as pope.

Under Pope Francis, Father Rupnik was reportedly protected, despite public outcry. Under Pope Leo, that has apparently ended.
