Alisa Xayalith grew up in New Zealand, as the daughter of Laotian refugees. She recalls gravitating toward music at an early age to find some solace within a difficult family dynamic. “I was like a moth to a flame,” she says and went on to attend a music college where in 2008 she met the bandmates which eventually formed The Naked and Famous.
