Rosa Parks Arrested for Violating Segregation Laws
On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks was arrested in Montgomery, Alabama, for violating laws mandating racial segregation on buses. Parks and three other African-American women were asked by the bus driver to give up their seats for white passengers. Parks refused and was arrested.
