Six South China tiger cubs were born at Yangcheng Zoo in central China’s Luoyang City in January, bringing the zoo's total number to 38. The cubs are over 7 weeks old with an average weight of 2.5 kg. The South China tiger is China's only native tiger subspecies and one of the most endangered in the world, with just around 250 animals left nationwide. China's largest rewilding training base for the species has officially begun operations in Meihua Mountain in Fujian Province.
