I am happy to see any images about warm weather and the beautiful monarch butterfly does not disappoint Western monarchs travel from the Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountains to overwinter in forested groves along the California coast and occassionally Baja, Mexico. Western monarchs are poisonous by design they get toxic compounds from the milkweed they eat as caterpillars, making them taste bad and poisonous to predators like birds.
