Government shutdown forces closure of Stones River National Battlefield in Murfreesboro

On January 2, 1863, the Battle of Stones River came to a bloody end as a final Confederate assault was repulsed by massed Union artillery and infantry along the banks of the Stones River. 📍 Join us on January 2 for the final living history programs of the 163rd anniversary at McFadden Farm. 🎆 Union artillery demonstrations 🕚 11 AM | 1 PM | 2 PM | 3 PM Each firing is paired with short talks featuring soldier accounts of the fighting and the decisive role artillery played on this ground. 📍 Loc

Prescribed burns scheduled Saturday at Stones River National Battlefield

It’s a beautiful day to visit Stones River National Cemetery to remember the sacrifices made on our behalf by those who have served, and are serving, in the United States armed forces. The National cemetery parking lot is reserved for those who have mobility issues today. Everyone else may park in the overflow lots near our visitor center and walk into the cemetery using the lighted crosswalk. Stones River National Cemetery will be open to vehicles until 7 PM today.
