At a point in history , Bashorun Ogunmola became so powerful as Ibadan ruler that he requested the then Alaafin Adelu to supply him with bundles of Beere grass and posts made of Ayan wood to build his kobi (porch). The request was political,it was synonymous with payment of tribute: the two items were those that Alaafin himself received from his subordinate chiefs. The Alaafin had no option but to send the goods Bashorun Ogunmola in 1867 requested the Owa of Ilesa to send him mats and colanuts.
