Normally by the rules of the road I would enter on the right hand side of the channel but in my videos you will see I come in on the left. That is because the current is almost always flowing into the river through the harbour wall windows regardless of ebb or flood tide. This is due to a large eddy outside the entrance. The wind usually comes from the same direction as well. So I treat the right hand side like a lee shore. If anything goes wrong on approach, staying left gives me options. I can
