In the video you can see me start a little further away from where the piece will end up and scoop a little adhesive to stick the piece to the one that’s there. Preparing slate for mosaics often involves splitting it into thinner pieces, then breaking them up further with a hammer. Here I’m using a plane/spokeshave blade to split the slate but a chisel will work too. Then I’m breaking the slate with my hammer.
